Cassie knew she couldn’t win in a fight against Brett. Not if her life depended on it. She was three years younger and at least four inches shorter. But it annoyed her to no end that Brett made Niall like this. A polar opposite of his happy-go-lucky self, quiet and hurt. She felt the physical ache in her chest when he was unhappy. It was like a mama dog with her pups, she was too protective of him and she hoped he didn’t think she was some sort of weirdo.
Cass felt her breath hitch in her throat when his lips met her hand, and she looked down at her lap, a small smile ghosting over her lips and a blush forming on her cheeks. It was things like that that he would do, just something small that he probably didn’t know meant the world and a half to her. And Cassie sincerely hoped she could make him feel that way as well. Infinite.
The car came to a stop, and she went to open the door but Niall’s bodyguard had already gotten out, walked all the way around, and opened it for her. She took the hand he held out for her and smiled, curtsying to him. That was one thing she still hadn’t gotten used to, being waited on when she was with Niall. She let go of his hand and waited for Niall to get out of the car, grinning to him as the pair made their way into the chinese resteraunt.
Niall unbuckled his seat-belt as they came to a stop. He ran his fingers through his dirty blond hair. He walked out of the car, slamming the door shut behind him. He slowly walked around to the other side to reach Cassie. Niall narrowed his eyes. He took a deep breath, reaching his best-friend. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder, taking her hand then placing it around his waist. Niall leaned over to her, planting a light kiss on the side of her forehead.
He looked up as the paparazzi came out of nowhere. At the time, Niall didn’t care. They had a job too and that’s what their job was. He kept his arm around Cassie. If they ever questioned him, He would say she was just a best-friend which was the truth.
Niall opened the door for her, finally reaching a place with no flashing cameras. He looked up at the waiter. “Table for two.” He simply said, removing his hand from Cassie’s shoulder now.
