Cassie smiled at Niall, trying not to laugh at the face he’d just pulled but she couldn’t help it and burst into a fit of giggles before she turned back to him. “Nothing’s better than being with me, babe!” She replied cheekily, winking at him and laughing again.

This is what she liked about Niall. Things were never awkward like they were with other guys, he would just pull a face or say something and it was like she’d never heard of anything funnier. He made her feel comfortable, relaxed even, and with him it was never a matter of shoulda, coulda, woulda. It was like math with Niall, x was x and nothing else. Her and Niall were best friends, and though she hated to admit, nothing else. She supposed she should just be happy that she had someone like him in her life, someone to always brighten her day and make her feel special, but the more girlish-and-greedy side of her wished there was something more there. For now though, in that big black car with Niall smiling at her and her hair as red as rubies, Cassie was happy.

“I’m good, just kind of bugging out because of Brett but it’s no big deal. I’m sure, she’ll stop putting me down soon.”

Until Niall said that.

Cass was never a fan of Brett, to be honest. The first day they met, Cass found her absolutely stunning, but the blonde wouldn’t even give her the time of day. She was an Ice Witch, as Cassie liked to call her. She was just the most charming girl around the boys, but she always found some sort of snarky remark to make towards Niall and that pissed Cassie off to no end.

“What?” Cassie’s face darkened as she looked at him, her expression a mixture of concern and anger. “What’d she say now?”

‘What’d she say now?’

Niall’s eyebrows met in the middle. It was almost like it was hard to reply to the question. It did hurt him but Niall tried his best not to let her rude comments get to him. He shrugged his shoulders as if he didn’t care about the whole thing. “Well I was kind of rehearsing and she said how I couldn’t sing or how I’m a … lazy bastard. She might get me kicked out from talking to Louis.” He explained. His face turning into sadness now.

He lifted up his t-shirt, hiding his face. A sigh escaping his lips. He closed his eyes, trying to regain himself again. Niall then looked over at Cassie. “She is so rude to me. It hurts, you know?” He explained. “That’s all she does when she is alone with me. Someday, I will tell everyone about her but I can’t. Do you know how much Louis will hurt? And what if they don’t believe me?” Niall said, ranting on. He just had to let everything out.

He looked over at her, noticing that he was rambling about the situation. “It’s fine though.” Niall placed his hand on her shoulder. “Thank you for listening to me.” He whispered before looking to the side.
